Razor - Skill Build

Razor is one of the most easy to use hero in DotA. I for one, took Razor as my newbie hero to start off. :)

There are arguments of what skill to up for a razor. Well, there's no right or wrong answer over here. What stated here is just merely my personally preference as well as judgement. Feel free to flame and give your suggestions :)

Frenzy, which i think isn't really that useful during early games. Why? Because Razor is really fragile. He can't really take the extra pain during early games. Furthermore, his attack speed isn't really that great yet. I would suggest getting frenzy when he is a little bit stronger, and faster.

UnHoly Fever, which is my personally favourite. It's a free RingOfRegen (+2hp) when fully upgraded. On top of that, it helps in your movement speed. I would go for this against Frenzy.

Chain Lightining. Now this is the most arguable variable for razor. Most people will call you a n00b if u take razor without upgrading this skill. Well, it is actually quite situational. It really depends who you are facing during early games. Some people like to upgrade this skill as fast as possible to do some early harrasment, but i wouldn't but that idea that much. Basically because Razor's mana pool isn't really that huge for you to spam enought lightning in order to send your enemy back home. The most u can cast consecutively is only 3-4 chains. Well, if you like it, then take it :) I would rather go for Stats. +2 to str/agi/int. Imagine. At lvl7, when u have lvl4 Chain Lightning, i would have almost gotton myself a free Ultimate Orb (+8 to all stats) :p Isn't that nice?

And well, last but not least, the Storm Seeker. A passive spell which needs no mana, as if u are having 3 free Radiance? Who doesn't want it ? :) Get this whenever u can :)

Here is what I think is the best build for me. 1) A desolater. 2) Radiance. 3) Butterfly. 4) Buriza 5) Boots of travel By this time the game should be ending or you can choose your own items. I recommend Mjollnir / Monkey king bar /Assault Curiass , But usually I like assualt curiass. 	Guest @ Fri 11-01-08 01:31PM my item build is very basic. early game get 2 bracers or wraith band. and trees :) and get power treads Mid Game/Late Game you can either get bfly or mjollnir first. i perfer mjollnir, then get bfly, than get MKB, right now your attack speed is extremely high which can get you out of tight situations. now sell one of your bracers or w/e and get eye of skadi, those nay sayers who says that two orb affects, well you wrong those two orb affects stack with ranged heros. so now u have high hp,agi,mana. than last but not least bruiza, you can switch the skadi and buriza around i usually get my last items depending if i have like 4k get skadi or like 2k get buriza i doubt your game will go that long but if it does you wont have a problem killing. like i said basic build but it works. feel free to replace skadi with assault curias too. that greatly increases attack speed and gives you some durablility.

Razor lacks mana early so chasing enemy heroes away with lightning did not work quite as I hoped. Anyway, farmed until power treads, then finishing butterfly. At this point I was happy with the damage and speed, but often lacked mana and hp, so I got myself a Soul Booster. Helped me survive a lot. Then Buriza... then Satanic, Radiance.

	Boonzai @ Sun 23-07-06 06:11PM well the best way to play this hero is to creep in the beginning and save gold till you manage to complete Radiance,then you go and creep again till you make BootsOfTravel,then you go and creep the whole map,this will also help you to escape gang-bangs bec you are very fast and you have TP.Next you go for EyeOfSkadi,this will help you slow down your enemies and so do them a lot of dmg using you ulti and Radiance,also will give you hp and mana.The next artifact you will do are for dmg or attack speed like MKB,Buriza,ButterFly,Rapier and aegis.

	Hype @ Mon 27-03-06 05:47PM Yup i really agree with gay. the thing is though, you can also buy two circlets and two branches at the start instead of boots O.S. Just tower hug for awhile. you'll level up real fast. then you'll have unholy as your ring of regen. plus you are dealing + 8 damage at the very start. always look at the enemy creeps health so you can get the kills. Once you reach about level 8 you'll have B.O.S and maybe if you're lucky Boots of Elvenskin. Then get maelstorm. After that you're a happy farmer. You can also opt for Hand of Midas but it's a waste in the end game cause then you can get cash quicker with maelstorm. One more thing, up to level 8 just get stats and unholy plus your level 6 ONLY! This is for a late game killer, the revenant can only pawn other intel or agi heroes early on; that's when you get chain lightning. But if you want it safe, DON'T! After that you can follow gay's formula and maybe get a hperstone in the process. I got him an MKB and a buriza, 2 hyperstones, butterfly and ageis once. It was crazy! Also try tarasque instead of aegis. hehe Good Luck!

	Paulo @ Sat 25-03-06 04:13PM Whenever I use Razor, I usually start of with 2:Frenzy and Unholy. These two can catch up lots of cash. then the level 6 and lastly the chain. the chain is quite useless at start because it consumes a lot of mana, since razor has little mana reserves. For the Items, I maelstorm, butterfly and buriza are quite painful. Adding up a heart of Tarraque and a hyperstone will make him a killer. What do you think?

	relixus @ Fri 17-03-06 09:22PM razor was my first hero. hes a real pusher and hero killer equiped with ryt item. even 3 heroes cannot stop him -boots of trvel -maelstorm -butterfly -linkens sphere -radiance -aegis try this items.. you wont lose on any hero encounter.

	Toronque @ Tue 07-02-06 11:01PM i never learn frenzy early, razor's hp is too weak at the beginning. take power threads first whenever you use him. then go for maelstorm. thats it, the rest is up to you (many goes with hyperstone while i suggest to items with damage bonus like mkb). last advice, use chain lightning for the final attack (when enemy's hp is red).

I never tested equiping a 2 monkey king Bar, maybe 2 burize and a hyperstone!!! but for sure Razor will be invincible with that!!!!!!!!!!!!

	Guest @ Thu 01-12-05 05:27PM if i was against another pure physical damage dealer like troll warlord, id go for frenzy..sure i take 20% more damage, but i attack twice as fast. for example, both my hero and the enemy's attack once per sec and deal 100 damage. if i use frenzy, i take 120 dmg/sec, but i deal 200/dmg/sec....so i win, damage wise.
